Challenges

You can create various challenges in the Telus Health Engage Back Office to promote the health of your employees, in the categories of Steps, Training, Knowledge, and Mindfulness.

Good to Know:

Team Challenges and Bike Challenges are currently not part of the new self-service feature. If you would still like to plan these formats, please contact your Telus Health Engage customer manager as usual – we're happy to support you!
Important:
The processing time for a challenge is approximately 2 weeks, so please plan ahead! Further information can be found at the bottom of the page.

1. Type of Activity: Select Challenge Type

First, choose the category for your challenge:

Steps
→ Track your steps easily via smartphone. Please note the limit of 40,000 steps (approx. 25 km) per day.

Training
→ Select training units from the app yourself. You’ll earn points for each completed session.

Knowledge
→ Choose which knowledge units to complete in the Telus Health Engage app – each completed unit earns points.

Mindfulness
→ Select and complete mindfulness units in the Telus Health Engage app – each completed unit earns points.

Important: It is not possible to combine different challenge types!

2. Challenge Type

Choose how your challenge will be structured:

Competition:

Everyone competes individually. A winner is chosen among all participants.
The top-ranking participants will appear in the app within 24 hours after the challenge ends.
Note: You must have participated yourself in order to view the results!

Collective:

The group works together to reach a goal that you define.
→ For setting realistic goals in step challenges, we suggest:
7,500 steps per employee per day, assuming 40% average participation.

Achievement:

Each participant follows a defined daily goal.

Then, select a suitable image for the challenge.

3. Challenge Details

Customize your challenge with individual content:

a. Title of the Challenge:
Start with your company name so it’s easily identifiable (e.g. Company Name Steps Challenge).

b.Challenge Description:
Ideally includes: the goal, prizes or incentives, expectations and requirements (e.g. a tracker). Make it as motivating and engaging as possible to encourage participation.

c.Define the time frame:
Choose a quarter, then set the start and end dates (recommended: 2 weeks).

Communication are automated:
7 days before the start (app teaser)
On the start and end dates (push notifications
)

IMPORTANT: Example Challenge Description
“Countdown is on – the (Company Name) Steps Challenge is coming!
In just one week, it kicks off: our exciting Steps Challenge begins!
Let’s challenge each other to collect as many steps as possible –
whoever walks the most wins the challenge! Let’s rock it!”

4. Manage Your Challenge

After creation, your challenge will appear in an overview list
You will see the option to edit or delete

Completed Challenges
Provides a historical overview to help you plan your next company challenge.

Tips :

Set clear and realistic goals

Announce the challenge internally in time (e.g. via newsletter, email, or intranet)

Add small rewards or incentives to motivate participation
